EXCERPT: When my older daughter first started school, she would get off the bus, have a snack, and immediately start her homework. That’s what I always did as a kid, and it made sense that she would follow in my footsteps. I never really gave it much thought until my younger daughter started school. She would come off the bus utterly exhausted. It was a struggle to get her to unpack her backpack, let alone start her homework. Some days she would actually fall asleep within minutes of walking in the door. Naturally, I wanted her to get her homework done, not just for her sake, but for mine. I fought with her to sit down and do it immediately. I never took into account she had ADHD and needed to decompress after sitting in school all day. Homework that should have taken 30 minutes was taking upward of two hours.

After months of battles and tears (hers, not mine – I preferred wine), I finally had my light bulb moment: I realized she goes into a valley in the afternoon. I never factored in her peak productivity time, only mine. I discovered that if I gave her time to chill out and relax for an hour first, she would come back more focused and less combative.

We all know when we are at our best, and when we are basically just going through the motions. Decluttering and organizing take both mental and physical strength, so being cognizant of your peak productivity time (and that of those around you) is an important part of the process.

Review by Emily: I am giving this book five (5) stars for a few reasons. First, I love how short and concise the chapters are. This gives me a great sense of accomplishment each time I finish a chapter, which is critical because I have a busy schedule. The second reason I gave Hot Mess five stars is because of the book’s overall organization. It’s very easy to follow even if I pick it up after a couple days of being away. Third, the author gives “true stories”, which are anecdotes that supplement the text. These are always timely and enjoyable. Lastly, I am giving this organizational tome a perfect score because all the tips are helpful. I hope you find this book as fun and timely as I did.

Duke du Jour

Title: Duke du Jour
By: Petie McCarty
Genre: Regency Time-Travel Romance

…a reverse Kate and Leopold…a light-hearted time travel romance where a bewildered modern-day duke ends up in Regency England and meets the girl of his dreams…

Jared Langley, present-day Duke of Reston, tumbles into an abandoned fountain on his ducal estate and travels back in time to the year 1816. There, Reston servants and local villagers think him a dead ringer for his namesake and rakehell ancestor–the seventh Duke of Reston, gone missing at the Battle of Waterloo. Unfortunately, seven got mixed up with French spies out to assassinate the Duke of Wellington, and an unwary Jared ends up in their crosshairs.

Lady Ariana Hart has loved Jared Langley, the seventh Duke of Reston, since she was twelve years old, until the night the rogue broke her heart. Given up for dead, her rakish neighbor makes a miraculous return from Waterloo–only Jared shows up a changed man and reignites all the feelings Ariana had long ago buried.

Jared is in a race against time. He must waylay the suspicions of his quirky servants and neighbors, get to Wellington before the French spies do, fix his fountain–before Seven shows up–so Jared has a way home, and definitely not fall in love with the irresistible Lady Ariana.

Ari did not pull back as he had feared.

Her small hands gripped his jacket lapels and tugged him to her.

My little spitfire.

Jared couldn’t help it—he smiled against her lips.

She did pull back at that. “Why are you smiling?”

“You delight me.”

Jared could not have stripped the smile from his face if he had wanted to. He was just too damned happy. Ari wasn’t smiling, however.

“I am honored you allowed me to give you your first French kisses,” he said quickly. At her confused look, he added, “A kiss with tongues is a real kiss.”

“How did—” Her fingers pressed to her lips.

“Trust me. I know these things.”

Ouch. That sounded arrogant even to him.

Evidently to Ari, too. “And only a rake would find it humorous to give a woman her first real kiss.”

“No, that’s not what I meant.”

He reached for her. She lurched back, just missing the statue of David.

“I told you; I’m a different man now.”

Stick to the truth. It is always best.

Ari looked uncertain.

With her gaze keenly settled on his face, he managed to slip a step closer. “I’m a reformed rake.”

And Jared realized he felt like one.

“You reformed me,” he whispered and leaned in to kiss her.

“And when your memory returns, you’ll go back to the old Jared,” she said, easing back.

Review: I am going to give this novel 4.5 stars. I was delighted about the concept of a Regency time travel book, and this book was very interesting. I did think it was slow at parts of the book and I think some of it could have been removed. It took me a while to really get into the story.

The characters were very well developed and the plot strong and there were no plot holes. He is sent. Back to Regency Britain from a magical fountain that Jared found in the back garden He is greeted by his old servants and finds out that he has a reputation of being a rake. It was interesting seeing how Jared grew and how honorable he is as he looks for a hidden treasure to bring his estates back to better order. People have noticed how much he has changed and are suspicious even though he claims to have amnesia. You could tell that Jared and Ari were meant for each other from the first time they met.

That relationship had a few bumps along the way. Jared is very protective of her and is trying not to fall in love with her since he needs to go back to the future. Ari has been hurt by Jared when she was a young woman and is having a lot of trouble trusting Jared.

Between the relationship that is developing, Jared also has to deal with assassins. He does not know why they are trying to kill him until later, but there were many try’s and what made things worse for Jared is that Ari was with him.

I really enjoyed the relationship being built between Jared and his brother who was an illegitimate child. You can feel the love and devotion that is slowly being developed between all the characters.

A wonderful book of relationship development, a wealth of great detail about the Regency era, and a crazy mystery, this is the book for you.

His Valentine

Title: His Valentine
Author: Megan Slayer
Genre: Contemporary Romance (LGBT)

Brandon Kidd thought he overcame his demons. He thought he’d conquered his addiction to booze and his need to be promiscuous. He thought he’d left his depression behind. Why? He met and is dating Aydin, the man who stokes his muse. But the depression and his insecurity have come back, and he’s also got to pass his annual review for his fine arts program. He’s got to get through the grueling review, open up to Aydin and have the Valentine’s Day he deserves?

Aydin loves Brandon. He sees the changes in his boyfriend and wants to help, but how do you help when you don’t know the problem exactly? To compound the problem, Brandon’s brother, Benson, has started causing trouble. Benson doesn’t want his brother to be gay, let alone in a relationship. Aydin found the strength to admit he wanted to be with Brandon. Aydin’s come into his own. Will he be enough for Brandon or will the crushing outside influence be too much to overcome?

They’ve come together for Valentine’s Day, but can the romance last?

“I meant to say something, but I got so wrapped up in that review…” Brandon met Aydin’s gaze. “Babe, I’m sorry. I should’ve asked first.”

Aydin closed his eyes and rubbed his temple. He needed a moment to think. Talk about a Valentine’s surprise. What was done was done, and he couldn’t get Brandon to take the works down—not when they were part of an exhibition. Maybe people wouldn’t realize he was the one in the image.

“You’re mad.” Brandon bridged the gap between them and draped one of his legs over Aydin’s. “Babe.”

Aydin opened his eyes. Being so close to Brandon, smelling his cologne and feeling the warmth from his body seeping into Aydin’s comforted him. “I’m disappointed that you hadn’t mentioned it to me until now, but I can’t be mad. That’s your art, and I volunteered to sit for you. I knew there was a chance you’d put those images into a show.” He brushed his knuckles down Brandon’s cheek. “If we ever do anymore nudes and any with us in bed together, they will not go on display unless I know first and have given you permission. Those are our intimate moments. I don’t want to share all of them.”

“Understood.” Brandon leaned in and kissed Aydin. “I’m horrible with relationships. It’s hard, and I’m going to screw up again. I know it.”

“No, you’re still learning. We both are.” He held Brandon’s hands in his. “It’s a big step going from casual to monogamy. Some people can’t do it.” Aydin suppressed a chuckle. Normally, he was the one with the worries and fears. With Brandon on his side, he’d realized his strengths and wasn’t the timid man he’d been. He wasn’t ugly or horrible—no, he was loyal, had faith in people when most others didn’t, compassionate, and dying to be loved.

Finding Michael

Title: Finding Michael
Author: Megan Slayer
Genre: Contemporary Romance (LGBT)

Blurb: Going home could be just the thing his muse needs and his heart desires.

Tristan Paulson needs the words to return. He loves his career penning novels of small-town love, but his muse has gone missing. If he can’t write, he can go back to his roots and sort through the items his newly deceased uncle left behind. Once in Sullavan, Ohio, he realizes just how much he loved the place. Then he sees the handsome librarian—Michael is just the kind of guy he’s always wanted. How can he go back to the big city when Sullavan calls to him?

Michael Kane wants nothing more than to be surrounded by his books and the written word. He knows heartbreak and isn’t in the mood to put himself out into the dating pool again…until he sees Tristan. He wants to be with Tristan, but he’s too shy. A handsome man like Tristan wouldn’t be interested in a quiet man like Michael…would he?

©MeganSlayer 2018, All Rights Reserved
Tristan remained beside Michael as they walked to the diner. He could get used to being with
Michael. He’d only been in town for twenty-four hours and he couldn’t fathom not having
Michael in his life. As friends? Absolutely. As lovers? If he had his way, then yes. He admired
the different buildings along the route.
Many of the storefronts bore art deco influence. He stopped in front of an abandoned former
appliance store. “What happened here?”
“It went under. People wanted cheaper prices.” Michael shrugged. “I think it would make a great
store for something else.” He cupped his hands against the glass and peered through the
window. “It’s got a second floor and a lot of the neon still works.”
“Yeah?” He shielded his eyes and peeked through the glass. Sure enough, he noticed the
second floor and the raised areas of the first floor. “Has anyone tried to resurrect it?”
“No.” Michael strode away from the building.
Sadness settled deep in Tristan’s bones. Where he lived in New York, shops sprang up and
collapsed yearly. A few went the distance, but most didn’t. He missed the fun of record shopping
for vinyl and second-hand books at another store. He saw so much potential in Sullavan, but he
also understood the reality of keeping a business alive. He paused.
The characters spoke to him. One of them wanted to keep a struggling business going. One that
was started by the father of the lawyer, but was now that he was ready for retirement. Tristan
nodded. He’d have to jot that notation down once they got to the diner.
“Are you okay?” Michael stopped. “Tristan?”
Hearing his name on Michael’s lips shouldn’t have turned him on, but it did. His nerve endings
sizzled and his heartbeat sped up. He longed to touch Michael again. The stolen moments back
at the park weren’t enough. He’d gotten an erection just from sitting beside him.

“Well?” Michael frowned. “What’s up?”
“I had a piece of the story fall into place and am trying to remember it.” He hurried up to Michael
and fell back into step with him. “I’ll write it down when we get a table.”

Title: Between Venus & Mars
Author: S.C.Mitchell
Genre: Fantasy

Blurb: Once Upon a Galaxy . . .

Zana Starchild is on a mission to restore her tribe’s livestock and save herself from one more meal of kelp. Sure, it’s technically illegal to visit Old Earth, but to a rim rat like Zana, galactic laws are really just guidelines. Her wrecked starship just means she’ll need to use her backup plan to get off the abandoned world, an old Earth legend her uncle passed down to her.

Pulled from a relaxing shower, across the galaxy to Old Earth, Galactic Marshall Kyle Kepler finds himself naked and marooned with a quirky rim rat. Zana’s broken more laws than Kyle can count, and he plans to arrest her, just as soon as he can find transport off the planet and a pair of pants.

A junk heap of a starship, a magical tree, and a roving gang of mutant kangaroos are just the beginning of rollicking intergalactic journey filled with laughs, love, and adventure.

Excerpt: With her sidearm leveled on the eight surly creatures, she took a step back. “Leave me alone and nobody gets hurt.”

“An’ if we don’t leave you alone, maybe we get dinner.” The speaker was the biggest roo in the pack. “I ain’t had humie before, but I hears it tastes good.”

Its grin bared fanged teeth at the end of its long snout. Floppy ears perked up on top of its head as a narrow sneer tilted the side of its mouth. “Humies aren’t supposed ta’ be here, so’s if we eat you, nobody knows or cares.”

“Back off. I’m warning you.” She didn’t want to shoot them. They were just dumb animals. Well, maybe one evolutionary step above dumb animals. Still, if they surrounded her, she could kiss her ass, and her planet’s survival, goodbye.

Zana squared her shoulders. She could handle eight roos, no problem. The blaster was set for stun, so no permanent damage. I’ll just shoot ’me and get the hell out of here.

To her left, four more floppy–eared heads popped up.

Oh, not good.

A third group of five rose up on her right.

“Crap,” she muttered, as the mousy-eared marsupials maneuvered to surround her. They were slow-witted, primitive creatures, but strong as shit.

She could only hope they’d played their hand before their trap closed behind her. If so, she still had a chance.

Now or never . . . She whirled around and raced away.

Review by Amber: I am going to give this book 4.5 stars. I loved the comedy that runs rampant throughout the book. The plot is different and the characters are well developed.

I was laughing so hard at the beginning of the book that teras were streaming down my face. The mutated kangaroos are just the right side of silly.
Zana is in deep trouble and thus she runs to the Soulmate Tree, which was part of her mission, she wanted to see if she could find it. Her Uncle told her stories about it and he was also affected by it. So, her soulmate comes to her just in the nick of time. Although she didn’t expect him to be naked.

I was impressed on how Kyle is also a different type of character, as I thought he would freak out being dragged from his shower and into a battle with Roos.

You can feel the sparksflying between them as soon as they lock eyes.. As they fix up her ship to go back to her planet with needed materials, He finds it hard to think of her as a law breaker.

They stick together between crazy Roo sand treachery the bond gets incredibly strong. I wish there was a Soulmate tree around here so I could find the perfect mate. This is a fast read that throws you into a wholeother world.

Dark Desires

Title: Dark Desires
Author: Aja James
Genre: Paranormal, fantasy romance

Ryu Takamura is the Dark Ones’ Assassin. He has never missed his target…until now. Until her.

Ava Monroe is a talented geneticist who holds the key to the vampire race’s future…and perhaps her own as well.

Their attraction is explosive from the first. She would do anything to have him. He would sacrifice all to protect her.

But will their love triumph over seemingly impossible odds as they battle enemies new and old? Especially the demons from Ryu’s past? And deep within his heart?

Excerpt: Pa Ava’s breath froze in her lungs even as her heart pumped like a jack hammer. She stared owl-eyed and motionless into hypnotic dark brown eyes, so dark the pupils and irises were all but indistinguishable.

He held her gaze and slowly, nonchalantly pulled back his hand, leaving a trail of sparks along her skin where his fingertips grazed. A corner of his mouth tilted, whether in amusement or derision she couldn’t tell.

She did not see that hand fist so tightly on his thigh the knuckles turned white.

“Apologies,” he said. She assumed he referred to the accidental touch that set her veins on fire. “Allow me to help you.”

What? Was he going to help her relieve the dark desires that were melting her into a gelatinous mass of wantonness?

Keeping his gaze locked on hers, he gestured to the leg rest. Ava’s eyeballs were the only things that moved as they rolled to the right and down.

Oh that.

Before she provided a response, and perhaps it was better that he didn’t wait, because he would have waited a very long time, he elongated his torso by half standing, reached over the partition and smoothly removed the laptop bag that she had unwittingly jammed between the extended foot rest and the inner corner of her sleep capsule.

“May I?” he asked rather unnecessarily, since she hadn’t yet drawn breath or found her voice, and pressed the recline key so that her seat finally adjusted into a comfortable position.

Involuntarily, Ava heaved a contented sigh. Finally, her lungs were functioning again. Now that she had the opportunity to look him full in the face, she decided he wasn’t as irresistible as she first thought.ste third excerpt here

Review by Amber: I am going to give this novel 5 stars. It’s another great entry into the Pure/Dark one’s series. This novel brings us closer to Ryu, whom we first meet n Dark longing. He has even sent out to stop an experiment on genetics, and that includes stopping Ava As she is one of the top scientists in her field.

From the first scent of him, Ava falls deeply in lust and has a bad habit of saying what she means. The meeting is awkward but a connection has been made.

Ryu is a man whom has hidden himself behind strong walls that his comrades have not been able to breech. It takes a woman with no filter over her mouth, stubborn, insistent, and far to smart for her own good. Ryu doesn’t know what to do with her, he was supposed to eliminate her along with the rest of the team that is working on a top-secret genealogy experiment.

But as the days go
by, Ryu finds himself confronted by Aava everywhere he goes. She doesn’t make it easy on him pushing him with the crackling energy between them.

When he has to blow up the lab she is working on and gather the experiment he can’t help but tell her not to go outside. Being the woman, she is she doesn’t listen to him and instead of letting her die, he goes out of the way to save her.

Ryu may be suffering from his past, being a young man tried to be a shinobi and his own mother’s treachery. Ava becomes his angel, showing through actions and words how terrific a man he is and how much she can’t live without him.

Aja has been writing stories since the age of six, and novels since the age of thirteen. While she’d be the first to admit that those early efforts weren’t particularly good, she sure loved putting them down on paper!

The best part of writing, according to Aja, is that it’s completely organic, the way the stories develop. When the inspiration hits, she writes just so she herself can learn where the characters are headed because oftentimes, they take her by surprise! It is her ultimate dream to share her stories with as many readers as she possibly can.

Her other loves include art, cooking, old movies (anything with Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Robert Redford, Vivien Leigh, Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman, Clark Gable, and all the song and dance numbers because she can’t watch them and not be happy!)

The Last Prejudice

Title: The Last Prejudice

Author: Bill Blodgett

Genre: Mainstream Drama (LGBTQ)

Blurb: When Ed Connor slips into a coma his wife, children and their families arrive at the hospital to await his recovery. They gather around his bedside and begin reminiscing about the good old days but as the hours pass stress begins to take its toll causing long held family secrets and unresolved issues to surface. A disagreement over a DNR order put Ed’s sons, Steve and Peter, at odds and the family speculates that their anger is really about an event that led to their falling out when they were teens. While in his coma, Ed exists somewhere between life and death and wonders what he could have done differently when Steve tried to tell him that he was gay. The family is drawn into the bitter battle between Peter and Steve, and they fear things will never be right between them again. It’s now up to the family to devise an intervention as a last ditch effort to bring these two battling brothers back into the family.

Excerpt: Wish I believed in God. Maybe it’d make these times easier. But even with a belief in God, so many of the religious and nonreligious people call us a blight. I thought having religion would make people more tolerant, not less. I thought God loved all of his children. So many people see us as a scourge against the very existence of man. People talk about us like we’re not people at all but a disease. Speak of us like we don’t have feelings. As if we are a bad sack of flour on the shelf that needs to be thrown away, discarded, destroyed, so the others around it won’t become contaminated. It’s almost laughable. If we, the gay community, were able to contaminate the rest of the world just by association, then wouldn’t the opposite be true? Wouldn’t their heterosexuality, according to their own thought process, “cure” us?

Shakespeare seemed to be fighting a similar battle four hundred years ago. Was that the first prejudice? Wasn’t he musing about the same bigoted hatreds then that are being delivered upon us now? Aren’t we in the same place as they were then? Was Shakespeare centuries ahead of his time when he wrote, “Are we not… fed with the same food, hurt with the same weapons, subject to the same diseases, healed by the same means, warmed and cooled by the same winter and summer…? If you prick us, do we not bleed? if you tickle us, do we not laugh? if you poison us, do we not die?”

Steve mulled the words he had learned so long ago in a high school English class, until finally he murmured them aloud in an almost inaudible whisper: “‘If you prick us, do we not bleed?’ Oh God, I’m tired of this fight, of bleeding. Tired of having to justifying my very existence. Why must I carry it out in my own home, with my own family?”

Santana’s stare was cold. ‘Just doing my duty, Señor Rodriguez.’
He turned to me, smoothing out the front of my dinner jacket
with his hand. ‘You’re very elegant tonight,’ he said. ‘Don’t tell me,
let me guess. You were at the Club Profesionales, weren’t you?’

‘Yes, we were,’ my mother said sharply, ‘and we had to leave
because of some terrorists. Disgusting. And on his graduation dance
night too.’ She glared at Santana.

He gave her a polite smile, more of a smirk, and turned to me.

‘Being in the building as you were, you could have planted that bomb
very easily, couldn’t you?’

‘What? You think I…? No!’

‘No what?’

‘No, I couldn’t.’ My heart pounded in my chest. ‘My mother can
testify to that.’

My mother had turned a chalky white and her lips were open
and round like an O. She seemed at a loss for words.

Widow 1881

Title: Widow 1881
Author: Sara Dahmen
Genre: Women’s Historical Pioneer Fiction

Blurb: Boston widow Jane Weber moves to the Dakota Territories to save her respectability but finds her proper views challenged every step. Rooming with the last Blackfoot Sioux in Flats Junction and navigating a mercurial friendship with the fiercely independent town grocer leaves Jane reeling as she stumbles to understand the town folk and the unwritten rules of the west in 1881. Everyone has a story, including Jane herself and her unpredictable physician employer.

Excerpt: Suppose it is not real. I have not yet felt the quickening. It is early yet – too early to really discuss it. For this employer to know, when my lover had not and my husband could not, feels as if I am exposing my private bedroom to a stranger.

Terror shoots into me. I hadn’t wanted him to find out! Not so soon and not like this! Damn the Widow! I’d asked her not to speak! Now he will send me back home to be a widowed mother alone in the quietness of my parents’ house and the sharp stigma of the loose widow. No one back east will truly believe the child is Henry’s. They might think I went wild in the west.

No one knows me here. There is some safety in it, and I must convince him to let me stay. And I must tell him the same lie. There’s no other way. Everyone here in Flats Junction must think I was as married and settled as I say. And the Doctor too – what would he think having hired such a loose woman? The shame of my brief, quick desire for Theodore, and the self-loathing I carry rises up and tries to choke me. The Doctor walks away from me, fuming and vibrating with anger and I feel I must follow him to hear my fate.

Review by Amber: I am going to give this book 5 stars. It’s a wonderful read and the author draws you back into the 1880’s. The novel shows how hard it is for a woman to be anything but a wife, and how one’s reputation can define them. I love Jane, she is a strong person and faces all her difficulties with courage and guts.

Moving from Boston to the Dakotas is a large change for her, along with the housekeeping job she has applied for and accepted. Jane wanted a change and she got it. The new world she finds herself In has made her find courage and strength she didn’t know she had. Jane is not really been a housekeeper, she has had her own household to take care of but they did have a maid come in once a week to help with the heavier cleaning. Now, she is the one that is expected to clean floors, kill the mice, and do laundry.

Then there is the doctor Pat, a man after my own heart. Kind and generous, he takes an interest in her health right away and when he finds out she’s pregnant he makes sure that he does all the heavy lifting. He was also looking forward to having a child in his house, even if it was not sired by him.

When Jane goes back to Boston, the reader really does get to see the differences between her life as a housekeeper and her life as a cook for a wealthy family. Boston’s manners, and a women’s reputation mean everything. When she is being courted there needed to be a chaperone at all times. There was no touching allowed and certain subjects were not talked about. Back in the Dakotas, courting was more direct. Small touches were allowed along with no chaperones.

I am recommending this book for anyone that is interested in society back in 1881 and how women were treated back then.

Title: The unlikeable Demon Hunter: Crave
Author: Deborah Wilde
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Blurb: What doesn’t kill you…
seriously messes with your love life.
Nava is happily settling into her new relationship and life is all giddy joy and stolen kisses.
Except when it’s assassins. Talk about a mood killer.
She and Rohan are tracking the unlikely partnership between the Brotherhood and a witch who can bind demons, but every new piece of the puzzle is leaving them with more questions than answers.
And someone doesn’t appreciate them getting close to the truth.
Go figure.
On top of that, a demon known only as Candyman has unleashed a drug that’s harming users in extremely disturbing ways.
After a friend of Nava’s is hurt, she vows to take this demon down. But will life as she knows it survive this mission, or will this be the one time she should have looked before she leapt?
Happily-ever-after: barring death, she’s got a real shot at it.

Excerpt: “I love home delivery.” Malik lounged in his doorway, eyeing me the way the wolf must have with the three little pigs. His British accent was pure sin.

“I love your arrogance that you didn’t bother moving after I almost killed you.”

He laughed, flashing straight white teeth against his bronze skin. He was still the only being I’d ever met who could pull off a Caesar cut, and was still the stuff of billionaire romance cover fantasies in his soft gray trousers that were artfully tailored to the hard lines of his body and navy shirt, carelessly folded back at the cuffs. “Oh, petal. I’d say I missed you, but I didn’t. Now, unless you brought the more interesting twin?” He peered into the hallway. “No?”

He shut the door, but I stuffed my foot in to block it. Not like he politely stopped trying to close it. “Ow.” I pushed my shoulder into the door to keep my poor bones from breaking. “If you weren’t wondering why I was here, you wouldn’t have let security buzz me up or let my toes cross the wards I’m sure you’ve got strung across this door.”

“Ten seconds.”

“That’s not–”

“Five, four…”

“Demons are being bound.” I rushed my words as he made a buzzing noise.

Malik yanked me inside by my collar and slammed the door.

I wrenched free.

His penthouse apartment hadn’t changed. Still to-die-for sweeping views of the city, a massive glass wine storage unit in the open concept space, and a loft bedroom. He pointed at one of the leather sofas, custom made to hug the curved walls. “Sit and talk.”

Review by Amber: I am going to give this novel 4.5 stars. I absolutely love all the characters that have been developed. I’m always a sucker for a strong, sarcastic female character and a handsome, strong sidekick. Then there is their friends and brothers.

With a drug going around that is made from magic, both demon and witch, they have their hands full figuring out who is making this new drug and why. On top of that they havej figured out that the Brotherhood, the group they are working for, has been lying to them

The relationship between Nova and Rohan goes through one tempestuous battle after another, and a birthday party of doom.

Each one of the members of their family goes through hard times and betrayal. I absolutely loved all the battle scenes and how quickly I was brought into the story. You feel like you are standing right there with them, feeling their heartache, lust, and hatred. The demons were different from the typical demon, and each character has a different type of ability.

I would highly recommend the series to anyone that enjoys some lovely heat mixed in with their action.

Giveaway and RaffleCopter: Deborah will be giving a randomly drawn reader a $10 Amazon/BN GC.
